    Competition for sand sculptures, some as high as 16 feet.
     
  • Holland Festival. Celebrated mostly in Amsterdam and The Hague - In June
    It's often highbrow and pretentious but there are many fringe events. The Hague's North Sea Jazz Festival each July is the world's biggest jazz junket.

  • Carneval - During March
    The southern part, the streets are filled with singing and dancing party-goers on non-stop bar crawls for Mardi Gras (March 1-4).
     
  • Flower Festival - 25.04.2004 - 27.04.2004
    In the towns of Anna Paulowna, Breezand and Wieringerwaard, streets and bridges decorated with flowers.
     
  • Flower Parade - 26.04.2004
    Colorful parade through the bulb region, starts in Noordwijk and ends in Haarlem.
     
  • Queen’s Day in Amsterdam - 30.04.2004
    Nationwide tribute to Queen Beatrix, with entertainment, markets, parades, fireworks and other fun. The whole central city becomes a huge street market/party where anyone can sell whatever they like - it's a madhouse.
     
  • Liberation Festival - 04.05.2004 - 05.05.2004
    The end of World War II (57 years ago) is remembered with ceremonies the first day, and concerts and fairs on the second day.
     
  • Scheveningen Flag Day - 31.05.2004 - 07.06.2004
    Traditional herrring festival in Scheveningen Harbor with decorated ships, crafts and fish displays.
     
  • The Hague Cultural Festival - 07.09.2004
    Offers a preview of the cultural program for the season.
     
  • Sinterklaas (Santa Claus) - 05.12.2004
    On the evening of 5 December, people give one another anonymous and creatively wrapped gifts accompanied by poems about the recipient written by Sinterklaas.
